Sustainable Places 2018 (SP2018)
TESSe2b was in SP2018, in Aix-les Bains, France, 27-29 June 2018
Between 27th and 29th June 2018 was held in Aix-les Bains, France, the 6th Annual Sustainable Places international conference - Sustainable Places 2018. With the objective to gather though-leaders and sector influencers from leading organizations around the world to promote the state of the arts in science and technologies leading to the sustainability of places and ensuring long-term environmental security.

The general SP2018 program structure included a two-day symposium, comprising several keynote speakers, clustering workshops, and presentation sessions.

On the first day, TESSe2b was present on the workshop untitled “Future of Energy Storage” represented by Luis Coelho (TESSe2b project Coordinator) and João Garcia.

Energy storage will affect the entire electricity value chain as it replaces peaking plans, alters future transmission and distribution (T&D) investments, reduces intermittency of renewables, restructures power markets and helps to digitize the electricity ecosystem. For utilities, battery storage will become an integral tool for managing peak loads, regulating voltage and frequency, ensuring reliability from renewable generation, and creating a more flexible transmission and distribution system. For their customers, storage can be a tool for reducing costs related to peak energy demand.

The workshop was organized by the HYBUILD Project and other Horizon 2020 projects were presented:
